Our Spinner friends had a busy NXNE. They presented our Saturday street party at YDS with Oberhofer, of Montreal, Portugal. The Man, and many (many) more. Of course, we can’t say Saturday + NXNE + YDS without talking about the Flaming Lips. Spinner spent the day with the band & documented it all. Finally, an answer to the question: “What’s it like to be Wayne Coyne for a day?” (Fewer lawn bathtubs than you might expect…)

NXNE continues to get more amazing: Free Ice Cream
NXNE is just heating up, so cool down with some free frozen treats from the tasty people of Ben & Jerry’s. They’ll be sampling at the VIP party at the Hoxton tonight from 8pm to 9:30 pm on their patio, and from 9pm to 1am their reps will be visiting a few NXNE showcase venues for guerrilla sampling. Pack some fake moustaches and hit them all. A sticky sweet night awaits.

THREE FACTS:
• Both videos for “I’m His Girl” and “Friend Crush” were co-directed by lead singer/lyricist Samantha Urbani.
• The band was originally known as Perpetual Crush. Now that’s the title of one of their songs.
• Samantha and Lesley are lifelong… friends, having met at age seven at school. Samantha, Nikki and Matt all worked together at Angelica Kitchen, a vegan cafe in Manhattan. Oliver attended Samantha’s “wild satanic” house parties, and that’s how friends became Friends.
